While Craig Ramsay’s future is in limbo it’s my opinion if he were to be replaced, the new management in Kevin Cheveldayoff and Craig Heisinger would already have selected on who they want to coach. In other words, they will do exactly what the team owners did. Make no mistake Cheveldayoff was hand picked long before Dudley was fired.
But who would they bring in replace Ramsay? I’m of the opinion that they would not be looking for a rookie coach with the only exception of Brad McCrimmon. Chances are they’d be seeking someone who established themselves in the NHL but also had some relative success. Honourable mention to veteran coaches Craig MacTavish and Marc Crawford, unfortunately for both their lack of success over the past decade they must be discounted. Manitoba Moose head coach Claude Noel, is exactly like Craig Ramsay to an extent, a career NHL assistant coach except he some AHL coaching experience.
