Scherff was well on his way to an all-conference season last year before he went down with a season-ending right leg injury. Scherff only managed seven starts, but he was very strong at left tackle for the Hawkeyes. He enters his junior year as one of the most talented offensive lineman in the Big Ten, but his injury raises durability concerns.
That durability issue is the reason why Scherff is not higher on this list. Scherff has all the tools of a NFL starting left tackle. Standing at 6'5", 315lbs, Scherff was supposed to become the next great Iowa offensive tackle, and he still can, but the injury has definitely slowed his progression. Watch to see if Scherff can remain healthy. If so, then he can really raise his draft stock and be on the same level as his predecessors, such as Bryan Bulage and Riley Reiff.
