Steelers will have a hard team winning their division let alone the conference and super bowl. Ravens look like best team in AFC
If all it took were great stats or just great players to win a superbowl, I'm sure the Indianapolis Colts would have won the superbowl last year. The fact is that it takes more than that. It takes HEART and Pittsburgh has shown that HEART. Sure, there are other teams showing HEART with only one loss also but not any that have played without their best quarterback for the first 4 games. I base my judgement on these facts and YES also a little on me being bias and favoring my team. I haven't said this every year the steelers start out good, but I AM saying it this year.....
The Steelers are a quality football team and program. I won't disagree with you on that. However, it's week 5. Even now, I'm not sure that PIttsburgh is the best team WITH Roethlisberger. Time will tell, but in their own division is Baltimore, while in the conference you have the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Ravens, Colts, and others to contend with. The AFC is loaded I understand your heart is in the right place, but your head has to tell you to not count your chickens before they hatch. Every team is 1 injury away from the season changing. Just enjoy the ride, root for your team, and hope for the best. There's still a lot to be decided.
I could say this the morning before the superbowl and still there would be those that would say " Hey, it's the superbowl and anything can happen!". I know it's too early to predict with any accuracy the superbowl winner but this is a debate, right. As of now, who can say for certain it won't be the steelers and who can say for certain it will be another team? Nobody! So, with fact being fact and odds are odds, I don't see another team "right now" with a better chance than mine. Afterall, the steelers do have the best record in the superbowl department and still have many of those same players who were there for those last 2 superbowl wins! History has proven that if we get into the playoffs,"Throw all the stats out the door!".
MarkTracy, your debate (if we can call it that) holds zero weight. MSS is simply arguing against your initial claim, and he's right. you can't predict a Super Bowl winner. it's just as foolish to do it now as it is to do it in preseason.
Personally, I love the Steelers (and the Jets), not as a fan, but out of respect and admiration for two very quality teams. However, I actually think the Vikings will end up pulling it together and winning it all. But I don't really have any evidence to support that RIGHT NOW.
The Steelers don't know what life back with Big Ben is yet. They don't even know for sure if they're better than the Ravens or Jets. Like MSS says, there is a lot of football to be played. There's nothing wrong with a prediction or backing your favorite team, but if you're entering a debate, you have to bring your A game to back up that kind of a statement. Obviously MSS did just that, and you did not.
Hunters, If what you say is true, "you can't predict a Super Bowl winner",and also, " you have to bring your A game to back up that kind of statement.Obviously MSS did just that, and you did not."..... How can my statement be wrong or impossible and also be able to prove it's possible.. Huh? By saying that, you have implied if I would've debated as well as MSS and/or brought my A game, I could've backed up my statement. In which case, I would've proved that the Steelers will win the super bowl this season. Yet, you say I can't predict it. Huh? Looks to me like you're just trying to help your friend but probably wouldn't admit it anyway. Hey, I don't have a problem with that, I've got friends too. Next time just vote for him and leave the double talk statements out of it. Though it did sound smart at first, I just shot it down.....or rather, you did.
I don't know who MSS is, and he doesn't know me. You're just mad because I called you out for having a weak argument.
And you're taking what I said out of context. Well, at least what I have in written word wasn't how I intended it to be. You CAN predict a Super Bowl winner, but you still need the proper argument. I don't doubt the Steelers CAN win the SB. But your individual argument was weak.
it's nothing against you personally, unless you want it to be.
Just to clarify, I don't have a clue who that guy is. It was a nice theory that he is defending me as a friend, but I couldn't even tell you his real name and I'd be willing to bet he doesn't know mine. These debates are about presenting our points as strong as possible, and even in doing so, some will find each end to have made better points. I stand by what I said as I hope you stand by what you said. No one is right and no one is wrong, but someone will get more votes than the other. It's up to the members of FanVsFan to decide. Don't forget, it's all in good fun!
Hey, I read and liked one of your old debates you won. Your debate was " Tim Tebow WILL be a SUCCESSFUL quarterback". That debate is alot like this one isn't it! Because there is absolutely no facts to back it up and one injury could change everything for Tim Tebow. You said that you based your comments on the fact that he's been a great quarterback and I agree. I based my comment similarly, that the Steelers have been a great team and are great this year also. Well, you WON your speculative debate about Tim Tebow, I wonder if I'll win my speculative debate or is it really about votes not whether someone thinks it will happen or not. Either way, I've learned alot about this debate business and it's been fun debating with you. Also, I think you have debated very well whether you were for the speculation(Tim Tebow comment) or against the speculation(steelers will win superbowl). Since I'm new at this and you're not and I'm sure to lose this debate, I'll Congratulate you now.......Well Done!.....and maybe we'll do it again!
