| Ryan O'Halloran, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis had 16 carries Week 1, but he only played 24 snaps against the New York Giants. His playing time was limited because RB Ladell Betts took eight of the 10 third-down plays in which the Redskins used a running back. Portis also wasn't on the field for the final seven-play scoring drive.

| The Washington Redskins signed former New York Giant reserve quarterback Andre Woodson after the team released him, and head coach Tom Coughlin wasn't surprised. When asked if he was concerned about a division rival signing a player who knew the playbook, Coughlin replied, "...It's pretty obvious why he's in Washington. There's no question that's what's going on. We'll see what transpires. It works both ways a little bit."
