EARLY 2010 NFL PROSPECT WATCH… ATHLETIC PASS RUSH!
It is never too early to look ahead to future drafts and Murray State DE AUSTEN LANE (6060, 250) is a player that has already caught the attention of NFL scouts with his size, athletic ability, and production. Lane is a raw prospect with tremendous upside due to his athleticism. In the Murray State scheme Lane is asked to sometimes drop back into coverage, which is tough for a 6’6, 250-pound athlete. He does lack pass rush moves but displays good speed and great range to chase opponents sideline to sideline and is explosive off the line of scrimmage. Lane earned 1st team All-OVC honors this year with 63 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two breakups, five hurries, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and one blocked kick.
