NFL: Walter Jones Might Be Done

ESPN.com is reporting that Seattle Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones will not return until at least November, if at all this season. The 35-year-old anchor to Seattle's offensive line for the last decade will now be reassessed after the bye week, before a game at Dallas on Nov. 1. Dallas was the site of Jones' last game, Thanksgiving Day. He played with painkilling injections in his left knee, then had major, microfracture surgery to regenerate cartilage.

According to the Tacoma News Tribune, Mike Teel has won the third quarterback job for the Seahawks. The former Scarlet Knight beat out free agent Jeff Rowe, and his arm and football smarts have the coaching staff thinking they made a solid pick in the sixth round.

Eric Williams of the Tacoma News-Tribune reports that Deion Branch might find himself without a job when the Seahawks announce their final cuts. Williams points out the fact that Branch's $5 million salary combined with the reduced amount of three- and four-receiver sets the Hawks plan to use might lead to Branch's release.

Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said RB Julius Jones will be the team's workhorse running back this season and that Edgerrin James will serve as a complementary back. Mora said James was not brought in to compete with Jones.
