03.01.10 - OT Vladimir Ducasse, UMASS- Ducasse was considered a road grading right guard by scouts entering the combine and did nothing to show that he is quite ready to play tackle yet. He did show natural bend, which coaches love, and had 29 reps of 225 pounds to show that he is strong like we expected. He definitely solidified at least a second round grade and should be a starter at guard early in his career and develop into a nice backup at tackle. – JBScouting.com
01.29.10 - As he sat and watched the images of destruction and suffering roll steadily across his TV screen, Port-au-Prince native Vladimir Ducasse had an odd feeling come over him. Instead of shutting down his life in order play some small role in the Haiti relief efforts under way in this country, Ducasse was doing the opposite. He's living his life harder than ever in order to help on a grand scale. Ducasse, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive lineman from the University of Massachusetts, is projected to be one of the top linemen taken in this April's NFL draft. Over the last few months, he has climbed steadily up most experts' draft boards, moving from a late-third round selection to a second-round player. This week, he's trying to move even higher -- maybe into the first round -- as he competes at the Senior Bowl. And many draft analysts believe that's a possibility. Scouts.com already has him ranked as one of the top 32 players entering the draft. – Montgomery Advertiser
Skinny: He grew up in Haiti before moving to America and went to high school in Connecticut – a very different climate to say the least. He has good quickness and size (6’5, 328) but is raw in his technique and needs to work on his run blocking. Ducasse, a two-year starter at left tackle, earned 1st team All-CAA honors last year and could land in the 4th-5th round range.
01.24.10 - UMass offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse knows he needs to be focused on the task at hand this week during practice for Saturday’s Senior Bowl. But that’s easier said than done. The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder is a native of Haiti, which was recently rocked by a devastating earthquake. Though he has been able to get in touch with his father and other family members and knows their house was only slightly damaged, there are still plenty of people in his native land who are hurting. “My first reaction was, ‘Is my family OK?’” Ducasse said. “After I found out that everyone was OK, I continued to watch the news. I recognized some of the places. It hit me a little bit.” Ducasse is hoping he can start helping this week by improving his NFL draft status, therefore leading to a larger payday in April and allowing him to help Haiti financially in the future. – Mobile Press-Register
