02.17.10 - The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end has been working out at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center since returning from the Pasadena, Calif., and is one of 53 juniors who were invited to participate in the NFL Combine starting on Feb. 24. “It’s crazy,” Gibson said. “I was telling my brother (Rafael) about it yesterday. He said he remembers when I was younger, out doing backflips and running in circles just because. And now I’m going to go show people and perform to show teams I can do things like that. It’s incredible.” – The Morning Journal
01.05.10 - Ohio State defensive end Thaddeus Gibson will enter the NFL Draft, Ohio State announced this afternoon. Gibson will discuss his decision later tonight. A Euclid High grad, Gibson redshirted his freshman year and has been on campus for four seasons, and his decision to head to the NFL isn't a surprise. He finished this season with 45 tackles, four sacks and a team-high 13 tackles for loss. While the sack production wasn't what Gibson had hoped for entering the season, he was consistently disruptive and improved his play against the run. In a statement, Gibson said: "I would like to thank Coach Tressel, Coach Fickell, Coach Heacock, Shelly Poe, and the entire Ohio State football staff, as well as my mother, brother and of course God, for helping me to have the opportunity to enter the draft, and for the support from my teammates, alumni, and Ohio State fans across the nation.”
