02.28.10 - According to Bradford his throwing shoulder "checked out really well" yesterday, and he threw more than 100 passes in his most recent throwing session. "Mentally, I made leaps and bounds," he said. "I gained a lot this year." Bradford will not throw at the combine but will perform for NFL scouts at his March 25 pro day. – USA Today

01.14.09 - Bradford clocks in every morning at his new full-time job in Gulf Breeze, Fla. He works out every morning at Athletes Performance, Inc., rehabs his shoulder for 90 minutes every afternoon at the Andrews Institute for Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, then works out again at API until 5. He'll start light throwing soon, he said, but doesn't expect to do anything at the NFL Scouting Combine except interview and show off his shoulder. If the shoulder checks out, his draft status should be fine. If it's troublesome, his stock will fall, and those who say he made the wrong decision by staying at OU in 2009 will sound off in full force. Unfortunately, NFL scouts don't have much to work with — other than two years of exceptional quarterbacking and a sore shoulder. "There's no doubt I made the right decision," Bradford told the Tulsa World in a telephone interview Wednesday night. "I mean, people can doubt me and people can question me and say I made the wrong decision, but no one was sitting in my shoes last year. No one had all the information that I had last year. No one knew my emotions, how I felt last year. So no one could make that decision for me except for me.” – Tulsa World

10.17.09 - Déjà vu for Sam Bradford. With 11:33 left in the first quarter, Bradford was drilled by Texas cornerback Aaron Williams on a blitz, driving the Oklahoma quarterback’s throwing shoulder into the ground. Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford left today’s game after what appears to be a re-injured right throwing shoulder. It happened with 11:33 remaining in the first quarter when Texas cornerback Aaron Wilson drilled Bradford on a blitz, driving his shoulder into the ground. It is the same shoulder that caused Bradford to sit out 34 days earlier in the season.

10.06.09 - Sam Bradford stopped short of guaranteeing he would return this season, but said the decision would be based on his physical status, not his draft status. “I do feel like right now, yes, I will be back at some point,” Bradford said, speaking to reporters for the first time in nearly a month. “It’s still a process of seeing how it will react to a full game week, preparation and the amount it throws it takes to prepare for a game.” Bradford sprained the AC joint in his throwing shoulder in Oklahoma’s opening-game loss to BYU on Sept. 5. Doctors initially said he would be out two to four weeks. While playing Saturday against Baylor remains an option, so does surgery. “Yes, that is still a possibility,” Bradford said of surgery. “It’s just all a matter of how my arm reacts to the amount of throws that I have and to the stress that going through a season puts on it.” Bradford said undergoing surgery before the season ended was a possibility to be better prepared for April’s NFL Draft, but would only do so if he couldn’t play.

10.01.09 -
CBS analyst Gary Danielson suggested that OU coach Bob Stoops had hurt Bradford's NFL chances by not convincing him to leave early for the NFL Draft. "That is ridiculous and it is insulting and it's foolish to say that," Stoops said this week. "In the end it's not my job to force a kid to come out. It's my job to educate my players on all the possibilities." Danielson had said: "I kind have thought Bob Stoops should have said, 'Sam, I love you but I'm not willing to risk $70 million on the backup left guard busting your shoulder, you need to turn pro.'"

09.26.09 - Late Friday night, 16 WAPT Sports can confirm that Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford of Oklahoma is on his way to Birmingham, Ala., to meet with world renowned sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Bradford sprained his AC joint in his throwing shoulder before halftime in Oklahoma's 14-13 loss to BYU in their first game of the season on Sept. 5. Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said the initial evaluations by doctors showed that Bradford did not suffer any damage to his collarbone, rotator cuff or other parts of his shoulder. There is no indication that surgery is now needed, but Bradford will be in Birmingham this weekend to receive further evaluation on his injury.

09.07.09 - It has been reported that Oklahoma junior quarterback Sam Bradford has ruled out undergoing surgery to repair a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder and hopes to be back on the field in 2-4 weeks. The official diagnosis for Bradford’s injury is a Grade 3 AC joint sprain, which means there’s a torn ligament in the shoulder.

06.01.09 - NFF National Scholar-Athlete WR Brian Robiskie (Ohio State) and 2008 Heisman Trophy recipient QB Sam Bradford of Oklahoma were two of the five finalists for the 2009 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar of the Year Award from Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine. The 16-year-old program recognizes the top scholar-athletes from all collegiate sports, and criteria also include leadership, character, community activism, and on-field performance.

01.14.09 - Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford has decided he will play at least one more season in Norman. Many had Bradford slotted as a sure-fire top five pick, if not the number one overall choice. However, at the Heisman Trophy presentation Oklahoma headman Bob Stoops told the NFL Draft Bible that anyone who believes Bradford is a consensus top five pick wasn't talking to the same NFL people he was.

01.6.09 - The 2009 BCS National Championship game will feature a match-up between the current and previous Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award® (The O'Brien) Winners. Sam Bradford, the 2008 O'Brien Winner, and the Oklahoma Sooners will square off against the Florida Gators led by the 2007 O'Brien Winner, Tim Tebow, Thursday night in Miami, Fla.

12.30.08 - Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford is still wearing a trimmed-down cast on his non-throwing left hand, but has progressed to taking snaps under center Monday and Tuesday at practice. "And he didn't drop one," OU coach Bob Stoops said. The size of Bradford's cast has continued to shrink since he had surgery to repair ligament damage in his left thumb Dec. 7.

12.29.08 - Sam Bradford burst onto the college football scene in a big way in 2007 by leading the nation in passing efficiency and throwing for 3,121 yards with 36 touchdowns. Just as impressive is the fact that he threw only eight interceptions in his first season as a starter. If there were any doubts about his talents, Bradford has silenced them in 2008. He has thrown for 4,464 yards and 48 touchdowns and added five touchdowns rushing thus far. He won the Heisman Trophy and Davey O'Brien Award. And like 2007, Bradford has kept his interceptions down as he has thrown only six so far this season. WIth a less than stellar class at the position for the 2009 draft, Bradford would be one of the top overall picks in April.

12.13.08 - While Tim Tebow did not become the second player to win a second Heisman Trophy, Sam Bradford made it back-to-back sophomores taking home the hardware. A year after Tebow broke through by becoming the first sophomore to win the illustrious trophy, “underclassmen winning” was not even a topic of discussion. - College Football Insiders On Location At The Heisman Trophy Presentation

Honor Roll: Winner of the 2008 Heisman Trophy (College Player of the Year) and Davey O'Brien Award (Nation's Best Quarterback).
