Audio Interview -- Player Spotlight (01.19.10)
Skinny: Patrick Stoudamire Jr. has gotten used to teams not throwing his way and because of this he only has five career interceptions despite being a four year starter. The 5’11, 200-pound Western Illinois senior has caught the attention of NFL scouts and has even been named to several preseason All-American teams. This season, head coach Don Peterson relented to Stoudamire’s pestering and allowed him to return kicks for the first time. He took his first return during spring practice back 95-yards for a touchdown. Stoudamire, a high school quarterback, won all state honors and gained over 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns his senior season at Centennial High School. He hopes to showcase his return ability as well as his coverage skills in his final college season. Patrick is the cousin of Damon & Salim Stoudamire and eight year NFL pro Chris Mims (Chargers & Redskins).
East-West Shrine Game: Patrick Stoudamire (DB - Western Illinois) showed good instincts today against a wide receiver screen. He was not fooled by the quick play and easily came in to tackle the receiver for no gain. – Draft Guys (01.20.10)
