SCOUT'S TAKE
Skinny: The Bulls have started to earn themselves a reputation for producing some formidable defensive players in recent seasons (Mike Jenkins, Trae Williams, Kawika Mitchell, Kenyatta Jonesm Anthony Henry) and Allen is the next in line. Standing in at 6’2, 206, the well-balanced cornerback has the speed and athleticism to play both man-to-man and zone coverage in the NFL. He will come down in support of the run, as well as pass coverage. Last season, Allen had 53 total tackles, one sack and one interception.
Stock: The consensus outlook amongst league scouts feel Allen could potentially be one of the top drafted safeties selected in the draft due to his versatility and ability to play both strong safety and free safety. Expect him to hear his name called as early as day one.
NEWS
02.10.10 - Nate Allen proved during the week of practice and the game that he has enough range, speed and quickness to handle the safety spot on the next level. In one on one drills against wide receivers, he more than held his own in coverage although at times he looked a little sluggish in and out of his breaks. However, this is to be expected, Allen is a safety after all. – Sun Sentinel
12.29.09 - Safety Nate Allen has been selected for the 2010 Senior Bowl. Allen was also a second team All-BIG EAST selection this year. He led the Bulls with four interceptions on the season and ranks fourth all-time in school history with nine. He is second on the team with 79 total tackles this year and was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after picking off two passes in a win over Syracuse on October 3rd.
10.15.09 – vs. Cincinnati - Nate Allen displayed his recognition skills on a screen pass, jumping all over the intended receiver to make the stop. He’s a very instinctive player. Allen recorded an interception off of a tipped pass. He has excellent ball skills—when he gets his hands on the ball, he finishes the play. Final Stats: 7 tackles, 1 INT
