01.08.10 - USC running back Joe McKnight said today that he will make himself available for the NFL draft. "It's my first healthy season, and it's time for me to go," McKnight told The Times in a short telephone interview. "I just got to go work out and train for the combine now and see what happens," he said. – Los Angeles Times
12.24.09 - Joe McKnight has been cleared to rejoin the team in San Francisco and will resume practicing today, Coach Pete Carroll said this morning. McKnight, who arrived in San Francisco late Wednesday night, is still awaiting clearance to play in Saturday's Emerald Bowl, but Carroll said he was encouraged by the tailback's return. "Joe did everything he needed to do compliance-wise in L.A., so it was the right thing to get him up here right away," Carroll said. "Compliance hasn't made a final ruling, but this is a most favorable sign." McKnight practiced with the Trojans on Monday but remained in southern California through Wednesday to be available for the university's investigation concerning his use of an SUV. "We'll just play it out and see what happens from here," Carroll said. "In the meantime, it's great to have Joe back with us." – USCTrojans.com
12.21.09 - Southern California tailback Joe McKnight did not travel with the Trojans to the Bay Area for Saturday's Emerald Bowl. "He has some paperwork he needs to do and it's best for him to stay in LA so he can be available to finish it," Trojans coach Pete Carroll said. Carroll did not have a timetable for McKnight's return. "We don't know right now how long this will take," he said. USC has previously said it was said it was investigating whether McKnight used an SUV registered to a Los Angeles businessman. The Trojans also declared three players academically ineligible on Monday.
12.18.09 - The Los Angeles Times reports USC junior tailback Joe McKnight, the Trojans' leading rusher, has been driving an SUV owned by a Santa Monica businessman, a possible violation of NCAA rules. McKnight, who was said to be leaning towards returning to USC for his senior season, could now be swayed to bolt early, rather than deal with the circumstances. He currently carries a 2nd-3rd round grade, according to the NFL Draft Bible.
12.01.09 - Tailback Joe McKnight did not practice because of a thigh bruise suffered against UCLA.
11.27.09 - Junior USC tailback Joe McKnight says that turning pro might have to wait because he has unfinished business at USC, including the pursuit of a Heisman Trophy. "I feel like right now is not the right time to drop everything and leave," said McKnight, a junior. "I feel like I'm not ready for it. McKnight has started all but one game this season and has become the Trojans' main ballcarrier. His 143 carries are nearly twice as many as junior Allen Bradford's 73. McKnight needs only 68 yards rushing to become the Trojans' first 1,000-yard back since Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush and LenDale White in 2005. – Los Angeles Times
