01.06.10 - South Florida junior defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft after just one year of playing major college football. "It was a tough decision for him, but in the end he thought he had nothing to lose," said his sister, Nadia Pierre-Paul. "When you have this kind of opportunity, you have to take it." Pierre-Paul, who did not arrive on South Florida's campus from junior college until late August, has been projected as a potential first-round pick. He is admittedly raw but has worlds of potential with his athletic 6-foot-6, 260-pound frame. Pierre-Paul overshadowed his more famous Bulls teammate, George Selvie, this season. He led the team with 6.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss and six quarterback hurries. He also has an interception, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick. He did not even play football until the playoffs of his junior year of high school.

12.25.09 - During the past three seasons, Jason Pierre-Paul has played a season at College of the Canyons in California, another at Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College, and as a junior he quickly became a force at defensive end for the University of South Florida. Pierre-Paul submitted his name to the NFL's draft advisory board last month, and he is collecting feedback. He is expected to make his decision shortly after the Bulls face Northern Illinois in the International Bowl on Jan. 2. Until then, Selvie will lend an ear if Pierre-Paul wants to review his options. "We talk on and off about it," Selvie said. "I tell him, just focus on the game. Play college football first, and then worry about the NFL. He's got a level head, so he'll make the right decision." - Tampa Tribune

10.15.09 – vs. Cincinnati – Jason Pierre-Paul is one of the more impressive athletes you will see, owning an 81” wingspan and capable of doing back flips in full pads. And he played only two years of high school football, where he was mostly a basketball player. He made a good play tipping a Tony Pike pass (intercepted by USF S Nate Allen), which is an example of how he is learning the game. A speed rusher, but in that situation knew to get his hands up and make something happen even if he wasn’t going to get into the backfield. Known primary as a pass-rusher, Pierre-Paul had a strong game against the run. He was very active and has great speed in pursuit—he can scrape down the line of scrimmage very quickly. The junior is still a little raw, but seams to be adding polish to his game by the week. Final Stats: 5 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 QB Hurries
