Senior Bowl Riser: From start to finish, Odrick just kept coming. He constantly penetrated the line of scrimmage with a fiendish first step and incredible leg drive. The lean tackle was also very stout versus the run in the way he stood up his opponents, showing impressive hand skills.

SCOUT'S TAKE

Anonymous Scout: The interior lineman takes away the inside from running backs and forces the play outside. Odrick single-handedly blows up the opposition’s running game by taking up two and sometimes three defenders freeing up space for his teammates to make tackles.

2009 Preseason: Last season Odrick emerged into one of the nation's top defensive linemen with 41 total tackles, 9.5 for loss, and 4.5 sacks. His 2007 season was cut short by ankle and hand injuries, so he had a lot to prove last season. Odrick has great size a 6’5 306, and almost always commands double teams, which allows other players to make plays (see 2009 first round pick Aaron Maybin). He plays the run well, but also has the ability to rush the passer, and can both inside on the edge. He is a hard worker and doesn’t take plays off.

NEWS

12.20.09 - Defensive tackle Jared Odrick has been invited to the Senior Bowl.

12.15.09 - Defensive tackle Jared Odrick was named to the second team. Offensive tackle Dennis Landolt was named to the third team -- an unexpected choice, if you ask me -- while linebacker Navorro Bowman also is a third-teamer. – The Morning Call

04.16.09 - Few Big Ten offensive linemen could hold up against Penn State defensive tackle Jared Odrick for four quarters last season. The Lebanon High School graduate's combination of size (6-5, 303) and quickness eventually wore out the opposition. His first team All-Big Ten selection was well-deserved. Now the senior is preparing for what could be an All-America season. He's that good. And to make the jump to the next level, Odrick said today he needs to work on one area. "Just being more violent overall,'' Odrick said. “Play the game and play it right, violently.''

03.18.09 - Penn State defensive tackle Jared Odrick was charged with disorderly conduct March 11, after police say he fought with three Penn State students and another college-aged man on South Atherton Street. Odrick, a 21-year-old junior, punched one of the individuals during an early morning confrontation on Feb. 28, police said.
