Latest: Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant said Thursday night that he will enter the 2010 NFL draft, according to ESPN. "I feel this is the best decision for me," Bryant said. "It's what God wants me to do. I'm going to start my training Tuesday in Tampa." Bryant was declared ineligible by Oklahoma State after misleading NCAA investigators about his relationship with Deion Sanders. - 11.05.09
Skinny: Bryant was impressive to say the least as a sophomore--87 grabs for 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also returned a couple of punts for scores. If you've seen him play you've been witness to his exceptional body control. Bryant boxes out better than most power forwards; his rebounds are tough catches in traffic. He's a great athlete with underrated speed and versatility, plus he's willing to sacrifice his body.
NEWS
01.15.10 - Bryant was suspended for lying to the NCAA about his relationship with former NFL star Deion Sanders, who may have been perceived by the NCAA as a "runner'' for agent Eugene Parker. Bryant said the mistake he made with the NCAA was lying during the inquiry. He regrets that decision, but believes the NCAA acted harshly by suspending him. "In ways I made a mistake because I lied to them,'' Bryant said. "I regret what I did and I respect their decision, but do I feel like it was a bad decision? Yeah, I feel like it was strong.” – Tampa Tribune
10.07.09 - Oklahoma State University has already begun the process of applying to the NCAA on his behalf for reinstatement. This incident does not involve anyone associated with the OSU football or athletic department staffs, any employee of the university, alumni, donors, or any third-party affiliated with OSU. OSU is taking this step because Bryant failed to openly disclose to the NCAA the full details of his interaction with a former NFL player not affiliated with OSU. The University issued the following statement from Bryant: “I made a mistake by not being entirely truthful when meeting with the NCAA. I sincerely regret my mistake and apologize to my teammates, coaches, OSU fans and the NCAA.” OSU coach Mike Gundy said: “We are certainly disappointed, but we are moving forward as we would with any challenge during the season.” Due to the ongoing investigation of this matter, OSU has no additional comment at this time.
