Skinny: Batten (6’3, 252, 4.61) has interesting measurables as he brings great speed but lacks the size that scouts look for during the draft. He will have to bulk up but shows promise due to his ability to drop into coverage, get to the quarterback, and make plays. He is limited athletically but has a high motor to make up for it. Over the last two years he has produced 26.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.

02.23.10 - DE/LB Dan Batten, South Dakota State: Lack of size (6-2½, 248) makes him a stretch as a defensive end, but has played some inside and outside linebacker, and might fit in with a 3-4 team. Four-year starter with 17 sacks past two seasons, 52½ tackles for loss in career. Probably runs in the 4.6s. Finalist for Buck Buchanan Award as top defensive player at Division I level in 2009. - ESPN
