01.08.10 – As first reported by the NFL Draft Bible, Williams will declare for the NFL Draft. The transfer from Arkansas has finished the class work needed to get his degree. He earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors this past season as a receiver and punt returner. "The NFL has been a dream of mine since I can remember, and I feel that it is my time to take this step to the next level," Williams said in a statement.

(2009 Emerald Bowl - 12 receptions 189 yards) The fluid route runner was a constant threat on both shallow and deep patterns. Williams was dynamic on a number of receiver screens in which he eluded defenders and gobbled up lots of extra yardage. The underclassman burned BC deep on a 38-yard hookup where Williams exhibited tremendous concentration by tracking the ball over his shoulder, while maintaining his feet in bounds along the sideline. The electrifying playmaker saves his best for the second half, as he puts on a series of intoxicating moves in the open field on a quick toss and turns something into nothing by reversing the field. Williams’ agility struck fear into the heart of opposing defensive backs, which often played tentatively to prevent the big play. The only apparent flaw in Williams’ memorable showing occurred in the third quarter when he extends to catch a short pass, but fails to secure the ball, which he fumbles (luckily) out of bounds. There’s little doubt that the junior Trojan will be among the first half-dozen wide receivers taken in the 2010 NFL Draft if he decided to leave college early.

12.05.09 - USC wide receiver Damian Williams said after Saturday's loss to Arizona he did not know if he would return for his senior season. "I don't want to talk about it right now," Williams said. "I haven't thought about it." Williams caught eight passes against Arizona but for only 51 yards. USC keeps track of all players who caught eight or more passes in a game and Williams had fewer yards than any other receiver. "Before I came here USC won five straight conference championships and two since I've been here," Williams said. "I'm used to winning and to lose a couple games is tough." – Los Angeles Daily News

12.01.09 - Last January, Williams had considered making himself available for the NFL draft, especially after quarterback Mark Sanchez decided to turn professional. But Williams returned and has been the Trojans' most dynamic player. He has caught 50 passes, six for touchdowns, and also has returned two punts for touchdowns. So Williams, who will graduate this month, again will consider entering the draft. "For me it's kind of like, 'This could be it. You've been hurt so you need to get out of there.' " Williams said. "And on the other hand, it's, 'You've been hurt. You could have hurt your stats and next year you could play better.' Williams, though, has suffered several injuries, including a hamstring strain that slowed him against Oregon and a high-ankle sprain that sidelined him against Stanford. Regardless, Williams will once again seek a draft projection from the NFL. "Right now it's 50-50, a toss-up," he said. "After I get the evaluation and more feedback I'll know more." – Los Angeles Times
