SCOUT'S TAKE

Skinny: Scott is a multi-talented back with good instincts and pass-catching ability. He can pick up yardage between the tackles or on the edge with outstanding power and balance. He amassed 1,174 yards rushing with a 5.4 yards per carry average to go along with 18 touchdowns, which led the SEC (seventh in the nation) in 2008 to earn First-Team All-SEC honors. Scott had seven games in which he tallied over 100 yards, and averaged 90.8 yards per game. He added eight catches out of the backfield for 67 yards, but proved his ability to catch the ball in 2007 when he caught 12 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns. For a team that was not as much of an offensive threat as it was in the past, Scott proved he could carry the load. He just might have to put the offense on his back and run with it…literally.

Our View: Scott has good size at 6-1 234 pounds and can not only run with power, but can make people miss. He also possesses the speed to take it the distance when he gets out in the open. He needs to show that he can catch the football and run better routes in the passing game or he will have to come off the field on third down.

NEWS

Senior Bowl: LSU running back Charles Scott passed his physical and was added (back) to the South roster, but still no word on Tennessee running back Montario Hardesty. – January 25, 2010

12.12.09 - Scott could return for Capital One Bowl. "I know that he'll be back in practice certainly for a piece of the bowl prep," LSU coach Les Miles said about running back Charles Scott (collarbone). "Whether or not we'll actually get him to play, I'm not certain. But we would be so thrilled to have old Scott back."

11.10.09 - LSU running back Charles Scott’s regular season is over, and his LSU career might be as well. Scott suffered a fractured clavicle in Saturday’s 24-15 loss at Alabama when he was dragged down from behind at the end of a season-long 34-yard run. According to www.orthopedics.about.com, the normal recovery time for a broken clavicle is 12 weeks. The Web site also noted surgery is not usually required. This will be one situation worth monitoring as we approach the draft. While LSU team officials have not entirely ruled out the possibility that Scott could return for a bowl game, the chances are slim and none. In fact, Scott, who was ranked as the third overall senior running back by the NFL Draft Bible prior to the injury would be better served taking the time to fully heal. Once he recovers, it will be his postseason performance that dictates his draft stock.

04.20.09 - LSU bruising back Charles Scott scored twice and rushed for 70 yards on 11 carries in Saturday's spring game.

01.14.09 - Running back Charles Scott and offensive tackle Ciron Black have decided to stay in school, the two announced at a press conference today on camps.
