Skinny: “Imposing” doesn’t begin to describe Carlos Dunlap. The larger than life defensive end seems even bigger than his listed size. His 88-inch wingspan enables him to disengage from blockers, and his extraordinary quickness allows him to run down plays from the backside. He’s not only quick for a defensive lineman, but this guy actually ran back kickoffs in high school. His natural brute strength, on the other hand, is legendary. Dunlap has been known to single-handedly move double-teams three yards off the ball.

01.11.10 - Florida junior defensive end Carlos Dunlap said Monday they will enter the NFL Draft. “This took a lot of thought and prayer between me and my family, and we decided that this was the best direction for me to take,” Dunlap said. “I've loved having the chance to play at Florida for Coach (Urban) Meyer, and playing for Coach Charlie Strong. I wouldn't be the person or the player I am today without them and the other coaches who have helped me along the way.” Dunlap tallied 38 tackles in 13 games this season and was a force at the line of scrimmage, recording 10.5 tackles for loss and six pass breakups. He was named All-SEC by the SEC coaches, the Associated Press and Sporting News and was a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award. Dunlap, 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, led the Gators with nine sacks in 2009 and finishes his collegiate career tied for No. 10 on Florida's all-time sack list with 19.5.

12.19.09 - Florida junior DE Carlos Dunlap has been re-instated to the team after being suspended for the SEC final against Alabama after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence days before the game. Dunlap, who is considered to be a top 10 prospect for the 2010 draft, could be back in the starting lineup for the Sugar Bowl in early January.

12.01.09 - Standout Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap has been suspended from Saturday's SEC Championship Game after his DUI arrest early Tuesday morning, UF coach Urban Meyer announced after practice Tuesday. There is no timetable for the junior's possible return. "Carlos obviously made a very poor decision," Meyer said. "I have not spoken to him or his family yet. I know you're going to ask if he's going to play. He's not going to play (Saturday). But I want to visit with him and his family first, and go from there." Dunlap was named Defensive MVP of the 2009 FedEx BCS National Championship Game. He has 35 tackles and is tied for the team lead with seven sacks this season. Dunlap led the SEC in sacks in 2008 with 9.5. Many NFL Draft analysts project that he will be a first-round pick if he decides to leave school early. – Gainesville Sun

12.01.09 - Carlos Dunlap Sr., father of Gators defensive end Carlos Dunlap, told the Sentinel his son is likely to sit out Saturday's Southeastern Conference Championship Game against Alabama after a DUI arrest early Tuesday morning. Dunlap Sr. spoke today with Florida Coach Urban Meyer, who said he needed to speak with his administrators but that he didn't know if he could play the junior. "I got the sense that he won't be able to play," Dunlap said. "I asked him if there's anything he can do -- it wouldn't be right if I didn't ask -- and he said he doesn't know what he can do. We're supposed to meet tonight." Dunlap Sr. said as of 2:15 p.m. that his son was still in jail despite being granted a release from an Alachua County judge about five hours ago. 12.01.09 - Florida Gators starting defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning in Gainesville, according to Gainesville police department spokesman Lt. Keith Kameg. Dunlap, a junior from North Charleston, S.C., was arrested at 3:25 a.m. near campus and was booked into the jail at 5:52 a.m., according to police. Kameg said officers responded to a reckless driving complaint and found Dunlap's 2000 Chrysler stopped at a traffic light near the 200 block of W. 34th Street. Kameg said officers found Dunlap's car stopped at a green light. "They approached the car and found the suspect slumped over in the driver's seat," Kameg said. "He appeared to be asleep. The car's windows were cracked so they attempted to wake him up. They talked to him and he would only open his eyes for a few seconds and then fall back asleep." Kameg said officers were able to unlock the car and turn off the ignition. Kameg said officers reported that Dunlap "had trouble listening to instructions." He was given a field sobriety test and performed "poorly," according to Kameg. He refused to take a Breathalyzer at the scene, Kameg said. Dunlap, who is considered a potential first-round draft choice if he leaves Florida after this season, has 35 tackles, including 8½ tackles for loss, and is tied for the team lead with seven sacks. He was named MVP of the 2009 FedEx BCS National Championship Game, in which the Gators defeated Oklahoma 24-14 to win their second BCS title in three seasons. Dunlap was arrested five days before the No. 1 Gators will play No. 2 Alabama in the SEC championship game in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. - ESPN
