01.06.10 - Brian Price used football to get across this sprawling town from his native South Central Los Angeles to peaceful Westwood, far away from the street dangers that killed his two older brothers. Now the resilient UCLA defensive tackle is ready to see where football will take him next. Price announced Wednesday he'll skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft. Yet the Pac-10's defensive player of the year says he didn't rush to the pros, instead consulting with his father, UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel and NFL experts who believe he's a likely first-round pick, probably as the third-best defensive tackle available behind Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy. "I just felt in my stomach that I was ready to compete against the best," said Price, a 300-pounder with an exceptional first step. "Being a Bruin is great, but I'm ready for the next step."

12.30.09 - According to Various Sources, UCLA DT Brian Price reportedly announced after yesterday’s win over Temple in the Eaglebank Bowl that he will be leaving school and entering the 2010 draft. The 6-2, 300 Price, who led the nation with 22 tackles for loss this season is considered to be a mid-to-late first round prospect.

11.15.09 - One of the best defensive tackles in the college game, true junior defensive tackle BRIAN PRICE (#92) is a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award (nation’s top defender) and was a quarterfinalist for the Lott Trophy (nation’s best defender on and off the field). He was also on the “Watch List” for the 2009 Nagurski Trophy (both for nation’s best defensive player), Outland Trophy (nation’s top interior lineman) and Rotary Lombardi Award (nation’s top lineman). He was voted first-team All-Pac-10 by the league’s coaches in 2008.  Price ranks T-7th in the NCAA and leads the Pac-10 with 1.65 tackles for loss per game (the No. 2 player in the Pac-10 is at 1.20). He leads the team with 16.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks (T-9th in Pac-10) and has made 32 tackles on the year.  Price ranks 10th on the UCLA single-season tackles for loss list (16.5) and also ranks ninth in school history with 37.5 career tackles for loss.  In the opener versus San Diego State, Price made three tackles, one for loss. At Tennessee, he made a career-best two quarterback sacks and two other tackles for loss among his career-high-tying five stops. Against Kansas State, he made three tackles. At Stanford, he made two tackles, both for loss.  Against Oregon, Price made four tackles, including a 21-yard sack, plus a second tackle for loss. Price had four tackles versus California, including 1.5 for loss and 1.0 sacks. He had two tackles, including one for loss, at Arizona. At Oregon State, he had one tackle assist (0.5 for loss). He made four tackles, including 1.0 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss, in the win over Washington. In the win at Washington State, he made four solo tackles, tying for the team lead, including 3.0 for loss (10 yards).  He has made 37.5 tackles for loss in his last 26 games (1.44/g) dating back to the 2007 season. - UCLA Media Relations
