SCOUT'S TAKE
Pros: A starter in all three of his seasons at Rutgers, Davis capped his career by earning All-Big East first-team and multiple All-America second-team honors for his play during the Scarlet Knights' 9-4 campaign.
Cons: A violation-of-team-policy suspension for the Morgan State game in 2008, a one-quarter benching in a game against Army this season for reporting late to a team function, and a six-day demotion at the start of preseason camp for reporting in overweight this past summer. "It's just minor stuff," Davis said. "I had no weight issue. I'll be ready to explain all the questions about me missing the Morgan State game last year."
Skinny: Named to the Outland Trophy Award and Rotary Lombardi Award Watch Lists, Davis has shed nearly 60 pounds since arriving at Rutgers. With it, his mobility and agility has noticeably improved. After learning on the job as a true freshman starting at right guard, Davis shifted to left tackle to begin his sophomore season. The most highly recruited high school prospect the Scarlet Knights have ever landed, he has anchored the offensive line and is a sure-fire lock as a first round selection whenever he decides to enter the NFL Draft.

02.12.10 - The interview portion will be perhaps more critical with Davis than any prospect I'll be writing about. There's no question the big offensive lineman has talent, but he didn't have the best work ethic at Rutgers and struggled to maintain his weight. In that way, he's similar to former Alabama offensive lineman Andre Smith. The Bengals, who ended up selecting Smith sixth overall last year, reportedly have a "weight clause" in his contract. Davis, meanwhile, was suspended a game for violating team rules in 2008 and missed a team meeting in 2009. You can bet he'll get grilled about those incidents in Indianapolis. – Sacramento Bee
12.20.09 - Rutgers junior left tackle Anthony Davis will hold a press conference Tuesday, at which he will likely announce he is skipping his senior season and entering the 2010 NFL Draft, according to various reports. Davis is a sure-fire first round pick and is currently ranked as the second overall offensive tackle prospect by the NFL Draft Bible.
12.10.09 - Davis hasn’t tipped his hand this year about his future plans, but all indications are that he is NFL-bound after the season. Most mock drafts project him as a late first-round pick. Davis received more recognition for his play on Wednesday, when he was one of two Rutgers players (cornerback Devin McCourty being the other) to earn first-team all-Big East honors. “Dominate every play,” he said. “I still haven’t met my expectations for that. “Every snap, I want it to look like it’s not fair (with his matchup against a defensive lineman). That’s my goal.” – The Star Ledger
