01.19.10 - Temple senior NT Andre Neblett (Rahway, N.J.) has accepted an invitation to participate in the Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Challenge at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 6. The game will be nationally televised by CBS College Sports, beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Neblett was named the Owls’ defensive most valuable player in 2009. The team captain is Temple’s first three-time All-MAC honoree, earning first team honors in 2009. He earned second team honors in 2006 and 2007. A starter at nose tackle in all 13 games, Neblett was one of just nine players to start every game. Playing in every game of his collegiate career, he finished his senior season with 43 tackles, 9.5 TFL, four break-ups, a sack, and an interception. Neblett was a candidate for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Rotary Lombardi Award. Neblett, who will wear jersey #98, is the third Temple player to participate in the senior all-star challenge. In 2009, first-team All-MAC DT Terrance Knighton (Windsor, Conn.) played for Team Nation. Knighton now plays for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. Offensive lineman Elliot Seifert played in the inaugural game in 2007. Temple (9-4, 7-1 MAC) concluded the 2009 season with a trip to the EagleBank Bowl, its first bowl appearance in 30 years. The Owls won a single-season record nine consecutive games en route to the MAC East co-championship. - Temple University
