2.23.09 - Beatty did a lot to overcome the perception that he’s a finesse end by putting on ten pounds since the Senior Bowl and lifting 225 27 times. It’s hard to see him falling out of the first round now. Draft Guys
1.27.09 - Beatty's biggest supporters said he performed well in the 60th Senior Bowl last week end in Mobile, Ala., an all-star game for college seniors who are preparing for careers in the NFL. And he is already in Los Angeles to train for the NFL Combine next month in Indi anapolis. Then comes his pro day workout for NFL personnel at UConn on March 25. And all of that is pointing to the NFL Draft in April, where Beatty is projected to be selected anywhere from late in the first round to the middle of the second round. He is a 6-foot-6 1/2, 300-pound left tackle - the quarterback protector - which might be the most sought-after com modity by NFL teams. "His pass protection is phenomenal," said Tony Paige, Beatty's Washington, D.C.-based agent who also was an NFL fullback. "You don't just jump off the bus and learn how to do what he does. You've got to be athlet ic. Your feet have to be phe nomenal, which he has. "He can grow into his frame and maybe carry 315 pounds and be a stalwart on the line for somebody for 12 to 15 years."
1.24.09 – Beatty, a 6-6, 310-pound offensive tackle, is believed to be moving up the charts toward first-round consideration. UConn has never had a player drafted in the first round but could end the streak in April with Beatty, Butler or junior running back Donald Brown. Beatty has had some dominating performances throughout his career, including this season against South Florida's George Selvie. But what may be helping him, in addition to his quickness for a player his size, is his work ethic. - The NFL Draft Bible On Location At The Senior Bowl
1.23.09 - One of the more intriguing prospects is UConn tackle William Beatty. He needs to do a better job of keeping his back upright and bending his knees, but you have to love the upside he possesses. He got better as the week went on, which is how his pro career will likely go. He needs to put on weight or he’ll be vulnerable to a bull rush, but he has the frame to do so and he’s got the athleticism and footwork to protect the quarterback’s blindside.
1.20.09 – William Beatty had great feet in the pit, but sometimes his lack of upper body strength made him easy to overpower. He moved very well in the open field, leading the way on a reverse. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl
1.18.09 - SeniorBowl.com reports Connecticut OL William Beatty will play for the North team in the Senior Bowl Saturday, Jan. 24.
