1/24/09 - Fiammetta has spent the last several weeks doing combine training in New Jersey. He left for Mobile, Ala., on Sunday and will play on the North team at the Senior Bowl. He was invited to the game about halfway through the season. "I was excited to get it. It is a big-time opportunity for me to show my talents," he said. He was then invited to take part in the NFL Combine at the end of February. The combine is held in Indianapolis.
1/8/09 - Syracuse fullback Tony Fiammetta is scheduled to play in the Senior Bowl .
7/1/08 - A jack-of-all-trades, Fiammetta is a versatile weapon who projects as an H-Back in the pros. Able to line up at fullback, running back or tight end, Fiammetta had just three carries for eight yards as a junior but new offensive coordinator Mitch Browning vows to showcase his talent in '08. Fiammetta has been somewhat curtailed by a porous offensive line at Syracuse the last two seasons. He is a bit undersized for teams that are looking for a battering ram-type lead blocker, but possesses more athleticism than the average fullback. As a freshman he saw the field as a special teams player, adding to his versatility and potential value to an NFL team. Fiammetta missed one game as a junior due to a concussion and suffered a broken leg during his high school days where he also wrestled and played lacrosse. "He knocks you out. He gets that ball in his hands and ... good luck," said Syracuse head coach Greg Robinson. "He's catching passes ... he's a runaway freight train."
