School Bio

1.27.09 – Purvis has the softest hands of anyone at this game, with fingertip catches that made it look like he had suction cups on his hands. - Draft Guys On Location at the Texas vs. The Nation Game

12.6.08 - His numbers are down this year, but the senior tight end played a role in the Eagles second straight Atlantic Division title. Purvis has not been nearly as productive on paper with Ryan playing in the league where they play for pay. The Eagles had a first year senior starter (Chris Crane) under center most of the season, with freshman Dominique Davis taking over the duties last week. Similar to John Carlson last season (formerly of Notre Dame who lost Brady Quinn), Purvis is better than his senior numbers. - College Football Insiders Senior Spotlight: Championship Week - Issue 2.15

Scout's Take - 7.15.08

The Pennsylvania native was a First Team All-ACC performer as a junior, when he was one of Matt Ryan’s favorite targets as the Eagles made a run to the ACC Championship. Purvis has a knack for finding openings in opposing zones, as well as coming up with the clutch catch—he’s cool under pressure. Although he’s not a blazer, Purvis is more athletic and explosive than some might believe. He has great hands and the prototypical frame NFL general managers and scouts look for—he has the length as well as the bulk to stand in there and block. He hasn’t been asked to do much on pass plays but Purvis does possess the ability to develop into a well-polished two-way player as a professional. It will be interesting to see how his numbers are affected by Ryan’s departure, although it would be no surprise if he becomes the new quarterback’s (expected to be senior Chris Crane) security blanket. Purvis may lack the potential of some of the other tight ends in this class, but don’t sleep on the BC product who should be a solid, productive pro.
