1.27.09 – MOBILE, Rhett Bomar (QB-Sam Houston State) - Just like in practice, Bomar flashed some great raw tools, and some things he needs to improve before he can be a viable NFL starting QB. Bomar's arm strength and quick, compact release were NFL ready, but his erratic accuracy reared its ugly head on short and long throws, and he gave defenders easy plays when he stared down his target. He also coughed up a fumble in his own end zone that resulted in a TD for the South. Draft Guys On Location at The Senior Bowl

1.24.09 - The twist for Bomar has been coming to the Senior Bowl and throwing passes again to Oklahoma receivers Juaquin Iglesias and Manny Johnson on the North team. Oklahoma offensive lineman Phil Loadholt is also on Bomar’s team. "The first time we saw each other it was like we never left," Johnson said. "It was like old days." Bomar and Iglesias have been working out together in Atlanta at Competitive Sports Edge. Iglesias believes the Sooners could have had success with Bomar similar to what they have had with Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford. "I know me and Manny talked about it, if he would have stayed I think it would have been the same thing for Oklahoma," Iglesias said. "He’s a great player, not taking anything away from Sam, because he is a great player, too, but Rhett is good." Bomar, who has the same agent (Bus Cook) as Brett Favre, said he hasn’t watched Oklahoma play since his dismissal. At the Senior Bowl, NFL teams have asked Bomar about what transpired at Oklahoma and he has welcomed the questions. He doesn’t believe he has to repair his character and thinks his past will not hinder his draft stock. The dismissal ultimately changed Bomar, who started 11 games for OU in 2005.

1.21.09 – MOBILE, Rhett Bomar(Sam Houston State) is decisively the best QB prospect here. He goes through his reads patiently, puts zip on his passes, executes play fakes and bootlegs well, and he's willing to go downfield in 7 on 7's (as opposed to the South QBs). This tells us that he's not afraid of making mistakes, instead looking to make the best possible play - exactly the kind of mindset that makes for a successful NFL QB. He did fumble a few snaps, but also threw the prettiest deep ball of the day to former teammate Juaquin Iglesias. Draft Guys On Location at The Senior Bowl

1.20.09 – MOBILE, Rhett Bomar(Sam Houston State) Rhett Bomar looks like the most NFL ready of all the Senior Bowl QBs. He is mechanically sound, and his release point is high. He had the best zip on the ball today, and he was not afraid to go down the field. Draft Guys On Location at The Senior Bowl

1.19.09 – (Senior Bowl Practice): Had the most "Live" arm of the three North QB's; Graham Harrell (Texas Tech) and Nathan Brown (Central Arkansas). He had the most velocity on his out routes and the windy conditions had little or no effect on his ball. Well-built has a sturdy frame and among this group his physical traits have a real chance to shine.

1.19.09 – MOBILE, Rhett Bomar(Sam Houston State) Rhett might have had some butterflies in his stomach to start practice because he fumbled a couple of snaps early, but by the end of the day he looked calm and collected. The angle 3 out routes that he was throwing had a little bit of wobble in them, but his deep passes were on point. He had a nice hookup on a deep hook to Brandon Gibson, and he did a good job of checking down to his TEs or RBs when the downfield throws were not there. Draft Guys On Location at The Senior Bowl

1.11.09 - Exclusive NFL Draft Journal

8.1.08: After throwing for 2,209 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior, Bomar earned HM All-Southland honors. His numbers were lacking due to fact that Sam Houston State uses a vanilla offensive attack. Expect big numbers from Bomar this year as he can make all the throws. He does have some red flags according to NFL personnel due to some missed games with a knee injury in 2007 and some off field issues at Oklahoma before being dismissed. He enters the season with a 6th-7th round projection. If Bomar can stay clean, he certainly has the talent to be drafted in the mid-rounds. 8/1/08

11.26.08 - Sam Houston State QB RHETT BOMAR has accepted an invitation to play in the 2009 Senior Bowl.

10.21.08 - Sam Houston State QB RHETT BOMAR (6022, 208) has accepted an invitation to play in the 2009 East-West Shrine game.

10.13.08 - This past weekend Sam Houston State took on Central Arkansas in a match up that could potentially be the difference in crowning a Southland Conference Champion and determine whose stock is higher between QBs RHETT BOMAR (6022, 212) and NATHAN BROWN (6012, 210) who were both very impressive. After dissecting the game, who was the better performer though? Did one of them standout over the other or was it a tie? Despite UCA winning the contest it seems as though Bomar did win the head to head battle by a slim margin. Many scouts believe Bomar is a 2nd-3rd round prospect while Brown is ranging from the 3rd-6th round on most boards.

10.1.08 - Former Oklahoma transfer, QB RHETT BOMAR (6022, 212) has been on fire at Sam Houston State in his second year as the starter and has scouts buzzing about his arm strength, mobility, and all-around play. Don’t be surprised if Bomar is taken in the first four rounds if he keeps this play up.

9.30.08 - In what was one of the top offensive performances by a FCS quarterback in a long time, Sam Houston State QB RHETT BOMAR (6022, 212) was lights out in his team’s 49-33 win over Gardner-Webb last Saturday. Bomar threw for 340 yards and five touchdowns while completing 22 of 29 passes and added 20 yards and a touchdown on four carries as well. He left the game with two and a half minutes left in the third quarter with a 49-10 lead after leading the Bearkats to scoring drives on each of their first five possessions. Obviously, he earned Southland Offensive Player of the Week plaudits and has earned some national attention as well by earning Offensive Player of the Week by a couple media outlets.

9.30.08 - Sam Houston State QB RHETT BOMAR (6022, 236) has been very impressive thus far and has seen his stock boosted over the last couple weeks from the 5th-6th round range to possibly the late 3rd to late 4th round.

9.3.08 - QB RHETT BOMAR of Sam Houston State started his season off red hot and showed why some all-star games have already shown interest in him. Despite his off-field issues there is a chance Bomar could go as high as the 4th round at this point. Bomar threw for 198 yards, 4 touchdowns, no picks, and completed 63.6% of his passes despite only playing the first half.

8.3.06 - Oklahoma starting quarterback Rhett Bomar will not play for the Sooners this season following an investigation by the team. Bomar apparently filed for 40-hour work weeks at a Norman, Okla., auto dealership, making up to $18,000, when he only worked 5 hours a week, Schad reported.
