1.12.09 - Utah defensive end Paul Kruger is entering the 2009 NFL draft. The sophomore had a team-high 7.5 sacks and added 61 tackles for the Utes (13-0), who finished the season No. 2 in The Associated Press poll. In a statement issued through the university on Monday, Kruger says the decision to forgo his final two years of college eligibility is one of the hardest he's had to make. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Kruger is in Florida preparing for the NFL combine.
1.20.08 - Some horrible news out of Salt Lake this evening, as it's being reported that Paul Kruger, his younger brother Dave and defensive lineman Greg Newman were attacked last night. The three had just left a party when they were jumped by unknown assailants. Dave Kruger sustained minor injuries, while Greg Newman was stabbed in the back with a screwdriver, he was released from the hospital early this morning. Paul Kruger, Utah's starting DE, was stabbed twice, suffered a collapsed lung and underwent emergency surgery due to the wounds. And while it doesn't appear to be critical, he is expected to be in the hospital for at least a week. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said he will release a statement when more is known.
