School Bio

1.21.09 – Mike Thomas made a wonderful one-handed catch, showing sticky hands, and he used his quicks and change of speed to get easy separation. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.20.09 – Mike Thomas impressed us by sinking his hips whether he was breaking off a route or freezing a DB on a stop and go. He looked fast on a reverse and continues to look like running back in the open field. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.19.09 – Mike Thomas showed a knack for finding space, just as he did last week at the Shrine Game, but his 5'8" frame limited him on one high pass, although he was able to snag one, too. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.17.09 – The West, led by Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee and Fresno State's Tom Brandstater, passed for 317 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Bowl-bound wide receiver Mike Thomas (Arizona) had five catches for 73 yards and one touchdown. Rice's Jarett Dillard caught the longest pass of the game, a 35-yarder for a touchdown. - NFL Draft Bible On Location At The East-West Shrine Game

1.17.09 - Mike Thomas was the most impressive West WR even though he didn't stand out like Dillard and Sammie Stroughter during practice. Thomas showed a great knack for getting open and finished with five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. - Draft Guys On Location at the East-West Shrine Game

1.15.09 – Mike Thomas showed real nice body control on an end zone catch and again flashed the fearlessness a small WR needs to operate over the middle. - Draft Guys On Location at the East-West Shrine Game

1.15.09 - Arizona wide receiver/return man Mike Thomas has been added to the Senior Bowl roster earlier this evening, according to a source close to the situation. Thomas is scheduled to play in the East-West Shrine Game on Saturday afternoon.

1.13.09 – Mike Thomas still did not "pop" like the small, quick trio of Dillard, Stroughter, and Johnson, but he did show his RB mindset after the catch and good fearlessness over the middle. - Draft Guys On Location at the East-West Shrine Game

1.12.09 – Mike Thomas had a good day. He ran his routes well and caught most everything thrown his way, but he wasn't as sudden as Dillard or as precise as Stroughter. - Draft Guys On Location at the East-West Shrine Game

12.20.08 - Arizona’s Mike Thomas set the all-time Pac-10 receiving record with career grab number 257. It came when Arizona called a time out to throw a short route to Thomas on the game’s final play to pass Derek Hagan, who attended rival Arizona St. I understand why Coach Mike Stoops did it…not sure if I would have. - College Football Insiders Holiday Bowl Notes

Scout's Take - 7.1.08

Thomas could very well be the best receiver in this draft when he has the football in hands. The First Team All-Pac 10 performer led the conference with 83 receptions as a junior, to go along with over 1,000 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns (Arizona single season record). He excelled against tougher opponents in the conference, including 12 grabs against USC. Thomas has very reliable hands and is stronger than he looks, with quickness and speed being his biggest strengths. The Texas native has improved significantly since his freshman campaign, becoming a more polished receiver and a better route runner. His lack of length and bulk will limit his potential as a pro, but he has the ideal skill set to flourish as a slot receiver. Thomas is also a dynamic return man and dangerous on reverses, end-arounds..or whenever he touches the pigskin.
