3.31.09 - A sizable contingent of NFL assistant coaches and scouts were in attendance at Richmond’s Pro Day on March 19 to watch DE/LB Lawrence Sidbury Jr. (6-2 1/2, 265 pounds). Representatives from 31 NFL teams came to the pro day, including Carolina Panthers GM Marty Hurney (who has been virtually everywhere on the pro day circuit), linebacker coaches from the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins and defensive line coaches from three teams. Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Vic Fangio worked out Sidbury. Sidbury, who has visited the Buffalo Bills and will visit the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Rams and Tennessee Titans, stood on his numbers from the combine, according to NFL.com.

His size isn't what's impressing scouts; it's his long arms, speed, and strength--only a couple of ends tested stronger than the former Spider. I know he went to a small school and that means less hype than the Orakpos and Maybins of the world, but when you run a 4.53 40 as a defensive end, you're going to stand out. The question with Sidbury, as is always the case with "small school" athletes, is--how much will his lack of playing against top notch competition influence his draft slot? Whether or not he plays end or 'backer can be sorted out once he gets to camp--the team that drafts him will either to ask him to put on weight and stay at end, or use him as a 3-4 linebacker.

With Sidbury, it's never been a question of his athleticism, but rather his strength at the point of attack. Will he be a factor versus the run? Will he able to stack and shed blockers rather than just run around them? I have no doubt that this cat can rush the passer, but will he be just a situational pass rusher? I don't see him as a full-time defender just yet. I think he's more of a rotational guy right now. Maybe he'll develop into a more complete player down the line. - All Access Daily Dose: Sidbury A Showstopper At Pro Day

1.23.09 - Lawrence Sidbury may not have come to the Senior Bowl with a recognizable name, but certainly made an impact as a pass rusher, something no team can have too much of. Another small school product who looks like he will make a smooth transition to the big leagues. - The NFL Draft Bible On Location At The Senior Bowl

1.20.09 – Lawrence Sidbury is winning us over more every day. In the pit, all of his energy is concentrated on getting to the QB, none wasted, and he once again showed a great push in addition to his vast array of moves. He made a few heady plays crashing down the line on run plays, and looked like a linebacker pursuing downfield on a screen that he forced early as a pass rusher - how many defensive ends can do that? - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.19.09 – Lawrence Sidbury showed a terrific variety of moves and strategies for a young DE and played with great energy, just as he did in Houston. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.15.09 – Lawrence Sidbury successfully flashed his patent spin move to beat Alex Boone in the pit, and once again his first step explosion and raw materials as a pass rusher were apparent. He also engulfed Tyrell Sutton coming down the line in run support during 11 on 11s. His game is far from polished, but in a league hungry for pass rushers, he will be one of the first small school players off the board in April. - Draft Guys On Location at the East-West Shrine Game

1.13.09 – Lawrence Sidbury probably has the most potential of any East defensive lineman. He instinctively turns the corner like a born pass rusher, and the quick first step and raw materials are there. Sidbury didn't always win his battles, sometimes being guided past the QB too easily or losing his feet, but with hard work and good coaching, he'll be a productive sack artist in the NFL. - Draft Guys On Location at the East-West Shrine Game
