2.23.09 - Bell failed to impress in Texas Vs The Nation practices, but he got better during the game, and put up numbers across the board (6’6 3/4” 315, 34” arms and 10 3/8” hands, 5.15 40, 4.57 short shuttle, 27 reps of 225) at the combine to firmly place himself in the late round mix as a high upside LT prospect. 7.1.08 - Wondering who will turn heads with his size among small school linemen next year? Joel Bell is the answer. While he lacks consistency and gets beaten on the inside rush at times, Bell brings ideal physical tools, good footwork and durability along with the ability to dominate in the run and pass game. He earned Second Team All-SoCon honors as a junior and First Team All-SoCon plaudits as a senior. His time on the Furman track team is one example of his athleticism. Furman’s switch to the no huddle offense and change of playbook names could create an early learning curve in ‘08, but expect another stellar season from the long-bodied bruiser. Bell has received a late round preseason grade but has the tools to land in the mid-rounds with a good senior campaign.
