2.16.09 - Can you say Chris Perry? That’s the back that I think of when evaluating Javon Ringer - but it’s not because they are similar in style. They parallel each other because both received a ton of carries in college. In 2008 Ringer had 380 carries, and did not participate in the Senior Bowl due to a knee injury. Ringer does not have great size and already has a history of ACL/MCL injuries. On the plus side he is a patient cutback runner that displays good forward lean and agility. - Draft Guys Report On Javon Ringer

1.17.09 - Senior Bowl PR Director Kevin McDonald revealed that Javon Ringer will not participate in next week's pre-draft event due to a knee injury. "We were told he had his knee scoped and would not be ready," McDonald said.

7.1.08 - More quick than fast, Ringer knows how to buckle defenders and make them miss in the open field. He lacks ideal size but is an explosive game breaking back whose speed and quickness create big plays. He will likely never be a feature back at the next level but could be an ideal change of pace back for a team that covets a complimentary runner. While at Michigan State, Ringer has come out of games in goal line and short yardage situations. He made a major leap as a pass catcher during his junior season, both in terms of his hands and making things happen after the catch, which enhances his draft stock. He has led the Spartans in rushing every season since his arrival at Michigan State. His lack of bulk and a knee injury suffered during his sophomore season (missed four games) puts into question his durability. A shoulder injury limited him in the spring prior to his senior year. Ringer has developed a reputation as a hard worker and holds the highest grade amongst senior running backs on many NFL team draft boards.
