East received an extra year of eligibility after being listed as a senior in 2007 and is expected to be among the top linebackers in the FCS again. He was named an AFCA All-American and SWAC Defensive Player of the Year in ’07 after tallying 127 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles. Some have associated the term “throwback” when discussing his ability as a player. East lacks great speed but is an intense player who goes all out on every play. He brings tremendous upside, as he has played just two years of college football. His instincts, physical play, and run stopping ability make East a priority free agent developmental project.
