Scout's Take - 8.1.08

When you’re the tallest receiver in Florida St. history it is fairly obvious your biggest asset is size, particularly length in Carr’s case. He is phenomenal at going up to get the football, reminiscent of Randy Moss in that regard. However, he comes up short far too often on other patterns and will have to round out the rough edges on his route running to avoid becoming a one-trick pony. While his receptions have increased each season, Carr’s 795 receiving yards as a junior were just 177 more than he had as a freshman and his four touchdowns were a career low. He has found the end zone 25 times during his first three seasons as a Seminole. Carr needs to become more consistent, both with his hands and within games as he has a tendency to disappear. Overall, expect Carr to translate into a receiver capable of stretching the field and serving as a red zone target on Sundays. With better quarterback play, his numbers could improve significantly.
