Pros- Brown is a very athletic player that shows great speed off the edge. He uses his quickness and several different moves to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks. He has a very effective spin move that is extremely hard for tackles to handle. He shows great hustle and can make plays away from his side.
Cons- Lacks the strength and size elite NFL defensive ends typically have. Doesn’t offer much as a bull rusher. He may be best suited to move to outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme but must become a more reliable tackler.
Scouts Take- Brown is a pure speed rusher that has several great moves, making him possibly the best pass rusher in the class. He really improved his game in his final season at FSU--he had a team-high 13.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss. If Brown is drafted as an outside 'backer, he will have to learn to breakdown when tackling and must learn to wrap up ballcarriers. It could take Brown a year or two to be a full-time starter, but due to his potential he should land in the mid-first round.
2.12.09 - "I think he’d be close to those guys (Andre Wadsworth and Peter Boulware). Andre was so much bigger. Andre was about 6’5’’ 285 lbs. and ran a 4.6 40 and I think he was about the 5th or 6th guy taken in the draft. Brown would be very much like Boulware, very quick and very fast. It will be interesting to see because Boulware was rookie of the year when he came out. The thing about Brown is he has already graduated and if you can go that high and you already got your degree, you nearly have to come out."
"That remains to be seen (if Everette can play OLB in a 3-4 defense). I do believe this: with Brown’s character — he's very dependable, very honest, just a good kid with a great desire - he’s probably got those intangibles that will somehow make it." - Florida St. Head Coach Bobby Bowden On College Football Insiders Coaches Corner - All Access Football Radio
1.1.09 - Brown redshirted the 2005 season but has been a major force ever since. In 2006, he earned Freshman All-ACC and All-America honors after posting 13.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three quarterback hurries and a blocked kick. Last season he didn't slow down any registering 11.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and three pass breakups. The 2008 season has been his best by far as Brown has posted 20.5 tackles for loss which leads the ACC and ranks third in the nation. He has 12.5 sacks, which also leads the conference and ranks third in the country. That to go along with three forced fumbles, two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries. Brown isn't discussing his future at this point but with the season he has put up, he would easily be an early round pick, if not a first round selection.
