Pros- Brown is a very patient runner that has a good burst to get through the whole. Once he reaches the second level he has great vision and has moves to make defenders miss. He shows ability to break tackles and has a good stiff arm. Brown is an all-around back that can block and catch the ball out of the backfield.
Cons- Brown is not extremely fast or strong. There is not one aspect of his play that is great. He started just one year at UConn. He needs to add some strength and power to be an effective goal line and short yardage back.
Scouts Take- Brown may not be great at one specific area of the running back position, but he is pretty solid at all of them. He is a complete back that still has potential to get better. He shows surprising speed in the open field, and can pull away from defensive backs. There are several teams in the late first and early second that would love to add Brown to their starting lineup.

2.16.09 - Brown is a compact runner, with a high energy playing style. When his shoulders are square to the line of scrimmage he can break through to the second level, and has deceptive speed in the open field. Donald lacks the vision and lateral agility to set up defenders, and instead he tries to jump cut down the field. His frame is maxed out, and he doesn’t have the lower body strength of a true NFL workhorse. - Draft Guys Report On Donald Brown
1.20.09 - Brown, 5 feet 10 and 210 pounds, led the nation in rushing in 2008 with 2,083 yards — an average of 160.2. He surpassed 100 yards in 11 of 13 games and topped 200 three times, including a career-high 261 against Buffalo in the International Bowl on Jan. 3. Brown will be ready for the combine, which is Feb. 18-24. He'll also perform for scouts in the Pro Day event at UConn on March 25, when the familiar surroundings should be comforting. Everything is in place for Brown, from Atlantic Highlands, N.J., to be successful on and off the field. He's being represented by California-based Athletes First, the same agency that represents former UConn quarterback Dan Orlovsky. Brown, a physical fitness freak, began working out at Velocity Sports Performance in Irvine, Calif., a couple of days after the International Bowl. There's a grueling, daily regimen there. Brown, not surprisingly, stays after those intense workouts to do his own. "I'm pretty confident in my testing abilities, he said. "With the specialization that I'm going through right now, I think I'll be well-prepared for the combine."
1.5.09 - Connecticut RB Donald Brown announced that he will forgo his senior season in school and enter the 2009 NFL Draft.
12.29.08 - Brown didn't put up huge numbers his first two seasons at UConn. In 2006, he rushed for 896 yards with seven touchdowns and added two more scores on pass receptions. Last season he rushed for 821 yards with eight touchdowns. This season it is an entirely different story as Brown is among the leaders rushing for 1,822 yards with 17 touchdowns thus far. Up until this season, Brown had started only 10 games over the last two years. While his production ranks among the top backs in the country, Brown may opt to stay in school to improve his stock.
