Devin Moore Private Workout Results - 2.19.09

School Bio

2.19.09 - The NFL Draft Bible Reports that Wyoming running back Devin Moore measured in at 5'9, 192 pounds today at his private workout in Indianapolis. Moore was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.38 and 4.4, benched pressed 225 pounds 27 times and had a vertical jump of 35". There were 8-10 NFL teams in attendance.

2.16.09 - Everyone in the NFL is fast, but Devin Moore is a speedburner. If he breaks into the open field there aren’t many that could catch him from behind. In addition to being super-fast he also has the quickness and initial burst to be very effective, challenging the edges of the defense on stretch plays and sweeps. Devin is a willing inside runner, but too often he is swallowed up between the tackles before he has a chance to show off his breakaway speed. He lacks bulk and thus is arm tackled way too easily. - Draft Guys

2.2.09 – Moore's speed and athleticism was apparent on one pass that he adjusted to - making a leaping catch - and then using the jets and a subtle move to get about four more yards on Rutgers LB Kevin Malast in close quarters on the sideline. Still, he didn't seem to be very creative with the ball in his hands, and honestly, he didn't look faster than Bernard Scott, or maybe even Yonus Davis. There was also a costly fumble by Moore, but that was a great play by Colt Anderson more than a boo-boo by Moore. Moore didn't get his combine invite, so he'll have to wait until his pro day to get a chance to impress scouts again. - Draft Guys On Location at Texas vs The Nation Game

1.28.09 – Moore's hyped speed has not disappointed, when we were watching film of him in practice it looked like he was on fast forward compared to the rest of the players. He is definitely not afraid to mix it up between the tackles and he runs with a good low pad level in traffic - clearly not shying away from contact. Moore also showed us good fight for the ball in the air as a receiver, in addition to natural deep ball tracking and improving sideline awareness. - Draft Guys On Location at Texas vs The Nation Game

1.26.09 – Moore's first step explosion was apparent, and he looked like a legit sub-4.4 RB when he was up to speed. Even though he's only 5'9" 191, Moore is willing to run inside - although not always with success. Moore has great feet and suddenness in his cuts, allowing him to get open easily and use his good hands as a receiver out of the backfield. Moore also threw a good block in pass protection, something that will surely be a question in his profile because of his size. - Draft Guys On Location at Texas vs The Nation Game

Scout's Take - 8.1.08

Moore lacks the size necessary to be an every down back, but what separates him from most of this class is his blazing speed and game breaking ability. He is a big play waiting to happen whenever he gets his hands on the football, eating up yards in bug chunks. An all-around talent, Moore is a valued kick returner and can line up as a slot receiver, although he has not been as productive after the catch as he has been as a runner. The potential is there for him to be weapon as a third down back. A knee injury midway through his junior season did not cause him to miss any games, but did rob him of some of his explosiveness in the second half of the season. He could move up by the time draft day comes, depending on how many teams looking for a running back prioritize speed.
