A bright student (three-time Academic All-Big Ten Conference), Johnson has a great deal of expreience (appeared in 35 career games) performing on one of the biggest stages in all of college football. He has good length but lacks ideal bulk to play on the interior and is likely better suited to play defensive end in a three-four scheme. If Johnson steps up his production, he could work his way into a draftable grade. At this point, Johnson does not project to be a starter at the next level, but could be a solid backup providing necessary depth. If he’s not asked to play too many reps, his size will not be as much of a hindrance. Heading into his senior season, Johnson only has six tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks in three seasons playing for the Maize and Blue.
