A former Hinds CC transfer, Ellis is one of those players you smile about on paper (6’3, 290). He recorded eight sacks and 22.5 tackles for loss as a junior and was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year while earning Second Team All-America accolades. However, despite the talent, his play on the field is somewhat of a letdown as Shaw occasionally takes plays off and does not always give a complete effort. Due to his size, upside, and production, Shaw is worth a look. If the light bulb turns on and he realizes his potential, Shaw could vault from priority free agent status to a solid mid-late round prospect.
