After a superb freshman season, Moncur has not developed into the superstar many expected him to be. He emerged as a starter in '06 before he incurred an injury; having played in 22 games (five starts) entering 2008. Moncur projects as a situational pass-rusher who will utilize his quickness to pressure the quarterback. He is an edge rusher whose engine does not stop. However, he will need to improve his run coverage skills if he wants to be considered more than that by pro scouts. This ‘Cane needs to take better angles when in pursuit, particularly if he moves to outside linebacker as many project he will. To do so, Moncur will also have to prove that he can drop into coverage, something we have not seen him do. Even if he improves his technique, Moncur lacks the weight and bulk to do battle on the line of scrimmage at the NFL level. Right now he looks like a ‘tweener more than anything else.
