Scout's Take - 8.15.08

Projected as an outside linebacker in the pros, Brown has shown flashes of greatness but has failed to perform at a consistent level at Connecticut. He is capable of coming off the edge to get to the quarterback, using his legs to get the step on offensive tackles and his hands to shed blockers. He is undersized, lacking the bulk and strength to play in the trenches at the next level. Brown is known as a positive influence inside the locker-room and was elected team captain as a senior. He is very athletic and appears to have the skill set to move seamlessly to outside linebacker, but there are never any guarantees when making such a move. He has some experience playing with his hand off the ground, but mostly moving forward. Can he drop back into coverage? How he does in the off-season will go a long way in how teams view him. He will be able to contribute on special teams immediately in the NFL, as well as come in as a situational pass rusher while he makes the adjustment to linebacker.
