School Bio

1.17.09 – HOUSTON, Chase Daniel(QB-Missouri) was erratic and probably had the worst game of any of the six Shrine Game signalcallers. He looks like a long term NFL project at best. Draft Guys On Location at The East-West Shrine Game

1.15.09 – While his size is an obvious drawback, he does make plays when he's put in his comfort level. Looks very average in the pocket, and his footwork in terms of dropping back makes his arm strength mediocre by NFL standards. But once he gets into shotgun formation, he appears to be the same guy that was a Heisman Trophy candidate the past few years. - NFL Draft Bible On Location At The East-West Shrine Game

1.15.09 –
HOUSTON, Chase Daniel(Missouri) continued to play like two different QBs. In the pocket on dropback throws, he was erratic, sometimes being right on, sometimes missing because the ball sailed over the intended target, and sometimes missing short. His release point is also close to shoulder high, which is not encouraging. On the other hand, when Chase breaks the pocket or starts in the shotgun, he has much better feel, making throws with good timing and accuracy on the move and generally letting the play tell him what to do instead of pressing. We confirmed the 6'0" height measured at the weigh-in - it's just deceptive because Daniel has short legs for a six footer. It's hard to imagine Daniel as anything more than a late round/UDFA long term project at this point. Draft Guys On Location at The East-West Shrine Game

1.13.09 – HOUSTON, Chase Daniel(Missouri) still had trouble going past his 2nd read in 7 on 7s, usually throwing the ball away or running instead of being patient. Daniels showed little to no anticipation in his throws, failing to lead his receivers. Instead, most of his throws were behind his intended targets. Daniel does look impressive when he turns into a runner beyond the line of scrimmage, and seems to relax and make plays as a passer outside of the pocket. He could be trying too hard to impress the scouts. Draft Guys On Location at The East-West Shrine Game

1.12.09 – HOUSTON, Chase Daniel (Missouri) reportedly measured 6'0" at the weigh-in, but he didn't look a lick over 5'10" next to his East teammates, and played more like he was 5'7". His release point was low for a QB of ANY height. His passing motion was exaggerated and anything but the quick efficient release you look for in an NFL prospect. Daniel was indecisive when reading the defense, no matter the coverage. He often pushed the ball and seemed to be aiming instead of throwing. Not everything was bad for Daniel. His three step drop was good- he looked light on his feet and had a smooth quick setup. His five step drop, on the other hand, was marred by a lack of the proper transfer of Tenergy from his back foot to front foot which caused his passes to sail. We are willing to give Daniel a pass on the first day of practice, but he has to improve by the end of the week if he wants to have an NFL future. Draft Guys On Location at The East-West Shrine Game
