Q&A With Brandon Gibson - 1.14.09

1.23.09 - In addition to displaying skills as a pass catcher, Brandon Gibson laid an impressive crack back block on defensive end Will Davis in 11-on-11 drills. Gibson showed great hands and could not be held in check – he always found a way to get open. - The NFL Draft Bible On Location At The Senior Bowl

1.21.09 – Brandon Gibson made outstanding adjustments to errant passes all day. He caught it when it was high, when it was low, and when it was thrown behind him. He made multiple fingertip catches, including one where he caught the back tip of the ball. Gibson's hands are dependable whether it's an easy catch or one that forces him to go to full extension. Like Robiskie, he's not going to light up the combine, but he will make plays for his NFL team. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.20.09 – Brandon Gibson had some drops, but did stretch out low for a catch. He timed a fade stop perfectly, waiting for the DB to open his hips before stopping and snagging the pass. Good hands, good physical play, and good body control. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

1.19.09 –
Brandon Gibson's not the most athletically gifted WR at this game, but he sure knows how to make the most of his tools. His slant routes were very well run, and he knew how to sit down on drag routes when there's a zone. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl

Scout's Take - 7.1.08

Mr. Consistency as a junior, the speedy Gibson had at least 80 receiving yards in 10 of 11 games, ending the season with four straight contests of 130+ yards. In addition to leading the Pac-10 in receiving, Gibson set a Cougars record for receiving yards (1,180 yards) and was tempted by the lure of the NFL before he made his decision to return to Pullman. The Washington native has improved by leaps and bounds each season, increasing his receptions (40 as a sophomore /18 as a junior) and explosiveness, averaging 17.7 yards per reception (up from 14.9 in 2006) with a career-best nine touchdown receptions. He has also contributed on special teams throughout his career. A right hip sprain caused Gibson to miss the final two games of his freshman campaign and he sat out a game in 2007 due to a bruised heel. Gibson has no true weakness, but no eye-popping strengths either. He was born in Germany and will not turn 21 until just prior to the start of the 2008 season. His uncle, Vaughn Williams, played in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers.
