1.23.09 - Alex Magee who was added to the roster on Tuesday, exploded by Andy Levitre, using his hands to get by the former Beaver. Magee displayed a speed rush and showed a nice combination move when he powered outside to set up with spin move back inside. I really like his quickness. - The NFL Draft Bible On Location At The Senior Bowl
1.20.09 – Purdue defensive lineman Alex Magee was in uniform and practicing today, although he was not on the initial roster and did not weigh-in with the rest of the game's prospects on Monday morning. - The NFL Draft Bible On Location At The Senior Bowl
1.20.09 – Alex Magee made an immediate impact despite showing up a day late. He swept his pit battles with quickness, including a compact spin move, and showed outstanding pass rush instincts for an interior lineman. His long frame was showed up as not very stout against the run. - Draft Guys On Location at the Senior Bowl
Scout's Take 8.1.08
Magee has all the measurables teams look for in terms of size, wingspan, quickness and strength. The Boilermaker is a versatile talent, who the coaches move up and down the defensive line. He is a 4-3 tackle and could probably play defensive end in a 3-4 scheme, increasing the pool of teams who could be interested in his services come April of 2009. Has appeared in 38 games (22 starts) entering 2008, so he is an experienced performer as well. However, Magee has been an inconsistent performer, making big plays in big spots but disappearing at other times. He had blocked field goals against Notre Dame and Michigan as a junior and added an additional blocked kick during his sophomore season—he should be able to contribute on special teams from day one. He struggles against double teams, doesn’t always play hard and often fails to get proper leverage, which is why his numbers don’t seem to match his talent. If gets his motor going at 100 percent, he can be a real force in the Big Ten this upcoming season and potentially shoot up draft boards.
