2.16.09 - Some RBs have a devastating stiff arm, and Brown is one of those runners. Andre is known to have a street fighter’s mentality from the RB position, and he doesn’t like to go down without a fight. He is also a consistent receiver out of the backfield, so he’s more than just a 2-down back. In addition to his natural hands, he is also very good in pass protection which is extremely important for young backs looking to get immediate playing time. Injuries are a concern, as he’s had 2 surgeries on his left foot, and Brown does take some time to get to full speed. - Draft Guys Report On Andre Brown
1.27.09 - NC State's own Andre Brown was named most outstanding player on the South team at the Senior Bowl this past Saturday, Jan. 24. The four-year Wolfpack letterwinner helped guide his squad to a 35-18 decision over the North. Brown rushed for 31 yards on 10 carries and hauled in two receptions for 41 yards, including a 33-yard strike. His one-yard touchdown scamper in the closing minutes of the first half put the South up 21-3.
1.27.09 – MOBILE, Andre Brown (RB-NC State) - Brown's surprising burst showed on his 33 yard catch and run, and he showed the ability to become a power back with a good nose for the end zone on his TD run. Draft Guys On Location at The Senior Bowl
1.25.09 - NC State's Andre Brown helped his draft stock considerably last night in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, and now heads towards the NFL Combines with the eyes of NFL talent scouts firmly upon him. That Andre Brown is a tough running back with gamebreaking ability, good hands and excellent ability to do damage once he catches the ball is no surprise for NC State's fans, and now it appears that NFL scouts and pundits are becoming well aware of his abilities as well. In the right situation — an NFL team with a good blocking unit and the desire to control their football games with a power running attack, Brown may well emerge as a popular star playing on Sundays.
1.21.09 – MOBILE, Andre Brown(NC State) won us over today. His good initial burst and second gear got him to the third level on multiple runs. He was a better receiver than advertised and scored a TD by hopping through traffic. Brown also has light, quick feet. He's a terrific late round sleeper who should outperform his draft position. 1.20.09 – MOBILE, Andre Brown(NC State) impressed us with his power (putting a shoulder into Coye Francies) and burst, looking like a solid mid-round investment. Draft Guys On Location at The Senior Bowl
1.13.09 - N.C. State seniors Andre Brown and Anthony Hill have accepted invitations to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Jan.24. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised by the NFL Network. Brown, a tailback from Greenville, N.C., finished his N.C. State career ranked seventh in school history in career rushing yards (2,539), seventh in rushing touchdowns (22) and 12th in career scoring (144 points).
11.25.08 - This season, Brown has turned into a consistent power back to compliment Jamelle Eugene's shiftiness. After recovering from surgery in the offseason, Brown says he wasn't at 100 percent until the Duke game. But coach Tom O'Brien has seen improvement in him each week. "As we went into the second and third game of the year he started to run inside with a little more power," O'Brien said. "He found out he was pretty good at it and has gotten better as the year's gone on." Before he test the NFL waters, Brown is yearning for a bowl game to cap off his career. It would give him the chance to spend a few more weeks with the players that have worked with him and encouraged him through thick and thin. "You realize that this is going to be my last time running out of that stadium, touching the wolf, waking up with them and being around them all the time," Brown said. "This is the last go-around and you can't help but get emotional."
9.20.08 - Andre Brown jumped over one defender, then ran over another. Nothing was going to stop him from possibly saving North Carolina State's season — especially not ranked rival East Carolina. Brown's 10-yard touchdown run in overtime lifted N.C. State to a 30-24 upset of the 15th-ranked Pirates on Saturday. Brown finished with 73 yards and a 4-yard touchdown reception from Wilson, a redshirt freshman making his first home start. He went 21-for-31 for 210 yards and added a 20-yard TD toss to Jarvis Williams.
Posted July 2008:
A powerful straight-ahead runner who keeps it between the tackles, Brown knows his limitations. He has been prone to injury throughout his career and has had a penchant for fumbling. Entering 2008, his career high in carries came as a freshman (129), when he sat out three games. As a sophomore he remained on the field but wore down with a significant drop in productivity over the final five games of the season. Brown missed four games as a junior with a fractured foot, which required surgery. He re-injured the foot during the spring of 2008, and was forced to undergo a second surgery. While he’s not much of a pass catcher, Brown did improve as a receiver in 2007. He also lacks speed, running more like a fullback than a tailback. The North Carolina native does possess the bulk to run between the tackles but his physical style calls into question his ability to stay healthy for an entire season. Brown can contribute as a short yardage back rather quickly at the next level with the potential to be a number two back down the road.
