Walking around the Pittsburgh Steelers facility you can’t miss the tall guy on crutches and not know its Limas Sweed, who tore his Achilles during OTA’s a few weeks back.
While getting his rehab in, Sweed said he “Isn’t afraid of working hard,” and has done it in the past while he rehabbed a wrist injury in college.
Sweed did say you never think about getting hurt but it “Blew me away,” and that he “Couldn’t really believe it,” because he was feeling so good during the 2010 OTA’s. Describing himself as feeling “Like a kid again, feeling very confident, OTA’s were going great.”
The third year receiver said, “When it happened I thought someone kicked me in the back of my leg. I was still walking on it. Once the trainers diagnosed me they found out it was a torn achilles, I just excepted it, understand that’s part of the game and part of life.”
Hearing on ESPN or reading about it doesn’t really hit home until you can see in a guys eyes the anguish of being hurt and like Sweed said, “Everything was there, everything was there. With the Santonio trade it obviously opened up some room to make plays”.
Sweed said his rehab is going great, “This time next year I’ll be there having fun at OTA’s and balling out.”
