Josh Buchanan speaks with former Utah defensive end Martail Burnett, who last season led the Utes with his seven sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. The big fella recorded 50 tackles in total and even came waway with an interception.
What are your current measurables such as height, weight, 40, and bench reps? Martail: 6'2", 258, 4.72 Why did you choose Utah coming out of high school? Martail: Great place and great coaches. How did your pro day go? Martail: Really well. Do you have any private workouts set up? Martail: Not yet, but I've been working out on my own at the Utah facilites. What do you feel are your biggest strengths on the field? Martail: Great awareness and instinct What are your biggest weaknesses on the field? Martail: Give everything I have on every play. Did you feel snubbed by not getting an invite to the combine? Martail: Yes, but it gave me more time to prepare for pro day. What do you feel you bring to a team? Martail: Leadership, intensity, great athleticism...I'm a team player. What do you feel is the toughest thing about playing defensive line? Martail: Reading formations from a three-point stance. Do you have any players on your team who you feel will be NFL prospects next year? Martail: Sylvester Stevenson and Darrell Mack. Do you have any expectations on draft day such as a round or team? Martail: I would like to be drafted in the third or fourth round, but I would welcome the opportunity to be drafted in any round and get a chance to continue my football career. What are your future goals outside of playing in the NFL? Martail: Work with the youth, speak and counsel them. I would love to coach or announce as well.
