According to a well-placed NFL source, one of the teams that could be targeted by Brett Favre should he become a free agent is the Washington Redskins.
The source said that it is highly unlikely that Favre would ever want to return within his own division for obvious reasons, but that local options such as Tennessee, Atlanta and New Orleans also seem out of the question for the present time.
Some of the reasons outlined during the conversation included the following.
The Redskins present a team that have been implementing a similar style offense to the one Favre has played in throughout his career as new head coach Jim Zorn's scheme was developed under the tutelage of Mike Holmgren, who taught the West Coast offense to a young Brett Favre.
Secondly, is the fact that Favre would only want to play for a possible contender and the Redskins have a star running back (Clinton Portis), wide receiver (Santana Moss), tight end (Chris Cooley), plus they spent their top two draft choices on wide receivers (Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly), as well.
Finally, owner Daniel Snyder has long been known to everyone as a not only a bit of a "Wild Card" in terms of his ownership style, but also likes to stir the pot among his fellow owners.
Without credible foundation another team mentioned today was Tampa Bay, but communication to Favre's agent was not immediately returned.
