Next Level Scouting, Inc. is reporting that according to a source close to the situation that quarterback Brett Favre could be dealt as early as Wednesday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if compensation can be agreed upon between the two teams.
The Buccaneers spoke with Favre on Tuesday following the afternoon meetings held between Packers GM Ted Thompson and Favre's camp, which included his wife and agent, Bus Cook. The NY Jets continue to also be mentioned in the mix, but there now seems to be a decision on both sides that a quick resolution to this whole ordeal needs to occur and Brett seems to favor the Bucs over the Jets.
According to the same source the possible level of compensation could be determined by Favre's level of success with his new team where as such the Buccaneers would offer a conditional draft pick that could rise several rounds depending on one of several categories, which could include games played, wins or even to the point where the Packers request a higher level of compensation based on if Favre were to lead the Bucs to the Super Bowl.
One long-time NFL personnel director said, "That would make a lot of sense right now... you are backed into this bad situation so there is no way to get the true value of the player (Favre) back in any type of deal.", "So, seeing a player of his (Favre's) ability go out and possibly win a Super Bowl in another uniform you have to be creative in getting a certain level of compensation based on his play or that of the team you are dealing him to."
Brett Favre's representative's would not comment on the progress made or if a trade is imminent.
