The Six BCS Conferences produced 50 day one picks, two came from Notre Dame, with seven mid-major products and four FCS picks rounding out the first two rounds.
The ACC and Pac 10 led the way with 11 day one picks behind the strength of the Virginia schools (five picks) and USC (seven). The Trojans led all teams with their seven players taken in day one, out doing the Big East (four) on their own.
After USC, Virginia Tech was the only school with more than two picks. Virginia, Boston College, Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Colorado and Michigan were the other schools with multiple players going in day one. Former Wolverines Jake Long and Chad Henne were the only college teammates to be drafted by the same school.
