| Brooke Bentley of HoustonTexans.com reports that second-year LB Xavier Adibi is ready for full-time starter duties after a solid finish to his rookie season. Adibi will be competing against Zach Diles for the starting weakside position. The two shared reps during OTAs, but the Virginia Tech product feels much better prepared for training camp in year two of his pro career. Adibi has high hopes for Houston’s defense. "We are going to be an eight-man front and force the offense to do what we want them to do, which is go through the air. Then, we can just pin our ears back and blitz and do what we do best."

| A source close to the Texans told Pro Football Weekly that Chris Brown rates an edge over Ryan Moats in the battle to win the Texans' No. 2 RB job behind Steve Slaton. Moats was the Texans' top reserve last season after the now-departed Ahman Green suffered a season-ending injury.

| HoustonTexans.com reports that DT Frank Okam said he's looking to compete for a starting job after taking advantage of the additional reps he got during OTAs when Travis Johnson was on the sidelines. Okam slimmed down by 25 pounds after his rookie season and said he is coming into this training camp in much better shape.

| Texans undrafted rookie Jeremiah Johnson revealed to the Houston Chronicle that he'll need to wear a shoulder brace during training camp practices. Johnson will eventually need surgery on the shoulder. Concerns about his durability are going to hurt the running back’s chances of making the Texans' final roster.
